Review

After a disappointing steak for dinner at Belthazar Restaurant at the Waterfront we decided to go to Protea Hotel Victoria Junction for something sweet.

We felt like relaxing so we decided to sit in the lounge.  I know the hotel had a “makeover” not so long ago and I was interested to see the changes. Both the lounge and restaurant looked very different. We felt the lounge had a 70s feel, which I found a little strange.

Order:

1 x Pear Crumble with Ice Cream – R40
1 x Baked Cheesecake – R45
1 x Cafe Mocha – R15
1 x Strawberry Daiquiri – R50

Our drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive.  The Mocha was very nice.  The frozen daiquiri was average.

When our desserts arrived I noticed my ice cream was quite melted.  The menu stated the pear crumble was served warm.  Unfortunately it was stone cold.  So I have to presume it had been sitting around for a long time.  Unfortunately this spoilt the dish.  The cheesecake was also pretty much average.

Service was slow but pleasant.

We’ll have to give them another try.
